Rumbling Summer Rainclouds

An Auspicious Melodious Song of Obeisance, Praise, Prayer and Aspiration
Addressed to the Noble Lady

The elusive pose of the Infinite Goddess is timeless-awareness emanation,
Born as Prajna in any and every matter of Samsara or Nirvana
In the mud-growing Lotus [1] immaculate karma and aspiration are joined.
I too follow the Goddess of three-fold Rare Excellence [2].

As emptiness, because of great emptiness, you are heavy with qualities.
As superb interdependence, you are the abode of temporary and ultimate joy.
As method and wisdom reversing the process of Samsara, you are the Canon of Abhidharmas.
I bow with devotion to you, who holds the lotus of Prajnaparamita.

You have love for all children traveling alone on the path.
To the worldling who fears detours on wrong paths, you display lovingkindness.
To those who enter extremely evil karma, you put an end.
Alas, Tara! You are the Mother, who cannot tolerate beings' suffering.

You are the patient discipline of a nurse on the first day of one's life.
You are the booster of life's purpose for everyone, young or old.
You are the coalescent consort of great bliss, the luminosity of reality.
For a wealth of phenomenal possibility, what Goddess is there but you?

I and other run-down mother sentient beings
Always prostrate and pray at your feet.
Accepting the double task of bodhicitta, not slackening,
I naturally approach Great Joy [3], and with enthusiasm.

By protecting women and homes, you prolong the springtime of children and wealth.
By increasing teachers and students, you saturate with a monsoon of scripture and realization.
Liberating oneself and others, you sponsor an immaculate harvest festival.
May I remain in your retinue, goddess of supreme generosity!

Noble Tara, the Guru, you understand and see everything.
Praising the yidam, the Exalted Lady, one receives double siddhi.
Dakini, Prajnaparamita-mother, reverse and protect us from negative samsara!
Unique three-in-one refuge, there is no one else but you!

Until full awakening, for a tattered boy like me,
There is no refuge or hope besides you, Noble Lady.
Look at your child who is waylaid by karma and the times!
Bestow the abundant wealth of spontaneously present experience and realization!

Until the cyclone of five degenerations is pacified,
Inseparable from you, may I uphold all sciences;
With crazy wisdom fire stirring the depths of samsara,
May we awaken al beings from the stupor of affliction.

Especially all those with lineage of two accomplishments
Enter a single mandala of karma and aspiration,
An infinite ocean, and discover all wealth of the Buddhas.
May they accomplish the Goddess who revives the Teachings and living beings!

In the midst of mad-dog tooth-gnashing sounds of those who aspire to rebirth in the retinue of the Exalted One, this comforting, happenstance melody escaped its scribe, someone named Padmeshwar.

NAMO GURAVE
Master of the assembly of Immortal Padma Tötreng's awareness-holders
Dwelling at the threshold of a great holy being's threefold liberation,
For the prayerful child born coemergent in your Trikaya expanse,
In the realm of all-pervasive compassion, power of your intent never changes.

Toddlers who want so much, attached with clinging to pointless material things
Wish the impermanent objects of their pointless fixation were pure, but
This is the nature of pointless, projective ignorance of self-deception where,
Right now, by the Lama's kindness, the power of realizing awareness is brought up.

Though not oneself the owner of the ancestral legacy of Kuntuzangpo's fortune,
According to ability, one either recognizes the Lama's Buddha mind or not,
Which distinguishes Buddhas and sentient beings, just as they are in fact --
The changeless original basis, arising as Kuntuzangpo's lineage.

Though signs of the world's and beings' degeneration are rampant in this
Unfortunate time and place, at the feet of the Lama whose quality  is kindness
The five families of amazing marks and signs of emanation are contained in the mandala
Of fortunate beings, so with the vow of [never abandoning] beings until Samsara empties,
Everything is accomplished altogether.

Recognizing this to be the Lama's kindness is so wonderful but as
The sign of one's own and others' collective karma running out, there is impermanence.
As the final deed prophesied of those following in Buddha's footsteps,
They go to other realms, and here in the empty space left behind,
Disciple-children are oh, so bereaved!

Therefore the interdependent Dharmata of beings' benefit
Depends on the Lama's previous Tugdam, and on purity of previous karma and aspiration.
So considering beings drowning in the river of samsara's misery,
Please display the most excellent rebirth of the admiral
Who takes beings to full liberation!

By the great downpour of blessings of immortal Padmakara
By the power of activity of fully perfecting the two siddhis of Wrathful Supreme Horse
In the immaculate winter skies of the Tara-Mother who increases life, merit and elegance
May you, the waxing positive force of total Benefit, a bright smiling Moon,
Rise high amidst families of chief sons of instated Victors
And appear as the honored guest in a single mandala for oneself and others born presently.

So incited by excessive fascination with conventions of words and meanings, and by a special wish to alleviate my own and other Dharma brothers' and sisters' as well as beings' distress in general, may the stated intent of this prayer be rapidly auspicious, as marks and signs of  swift accomplishment swiftly pervading underground, on earth and in the sky. Offered by the typical Konchok Tashi.

The Kiṁnara's Flute

A HO!    In a luminous expanse of timeless awareness, erupting with five-color light rays
In the center of the Akaniṣṭha pleasure grove of lotus nets,
There is my guru Tsokye Dorje residing.
Let fall a great rain of blessings, Dharma Lord of Orgyen!    {1}

The beatiful drone of the tamboura gathering Dakinis of the East
Is picked up by the cuckoo of the bamboo forest of Lhomön,
Reaching the sad friends pulling the shoots born in the monsoon:
There is a vast wonder, the open lotus of joy. {2}

The bow-design of Indra appearing in the pellucid sky
With brilliant colors seven-times wrapped in the middle, amazingly beautiful
If that wraps around the throat of a thicket covered mountain,
There is a brilliant spectacle for the eyes of children. {3}

In the enclosure of jungle, surrounded by a terrifying graveyard
Everywhere savage jackals roam about their business.
Behold this spectacle of their insatiable obsession with corpses, and
There is an emetic to produce regret in one's gut. {4}

The phantasmagoria of face-food, fruits (amara=nectar mango) and grains fermented
Held to the lips of the brainless afficionados of their taste:
Think about the hungry ghosts whose minds are attached to those, and
There is a cancer of the heart erupting as deep laughter. {5}

The foolish pauper who has gold under his own hearth-stone
With self-aggrandizing involvement in seeking wealth-value elsewhere --
Behold the self-deception that depletes all one's time and energy in this life, and
There is an Acharya who shows what's totally unnecessary. {6}

On the surface of the unobscured autumn sky, white clouds show their mien,
The arising, abiding and departure of countless samsaric sports;
Behold the vast emptiness, where nothing is done that leaves a trace, and
There is a symbol that shows there was never a time for completion. {7}

Naive children are always constructing beautiful sand castles but
When those collapse on their own ground with the force of powerful winds,
Remember the exhausting, pathetic tantrums, and
There is an indication of torment by pointless duḥkha. {8}

Always throwing the ravine of bliss under the mattress
And incidentally bolting at leisure on the plain of whatever feels good:
Consider this jumpy jackrabbit who can't stay put, and
There is reason to infer the hidden liberated life of a [yogi]. {9}

Oh well (A kyang)!
It's a game, of course; it's emptiness and interdependence
Manifestly arranged as the coalescent magical Acharya.
Consider this happy mind that comprehends whatever has happened, and
There is the seed of all incidental and future virtues. {10}

A ho!
Ever so vague, the faint twittering of a flute,
Something to do, neither undertaken nor put down, in between rosaries on the finger
Don't race away on the plain of this single life, but listen, hosts of Wildlife, and
Here is a powerful finger of symbolic indication for you!    {11}

OM MAṆI PADME HŪṀ HRĪḤ

Written during the first Miracle month of the earth-sheep, known as “Siddhartha”, by the Pleasing Follower of Who Everywhere Holds the Lotus (mtsho skyes kun tu 'chang ba dgyes pa'i 'bangs, Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo). If you know what it means, do expound!
