Some Advice to Myself

The basic way of abiding, knowledge-compassion-luminosity, the all pervading fundamental lineage (rigs),
The (naturally pure) element, basis of all, ever-flowing on the even plain of Dharmadhatu,
Is fully realized Buddhahood, as the Dharmakaya, by the retinue of utter certainty,
(But) not realized before, six karma-beings wander, how sad!

The light on the path of guests, blazing Prajna abiding as fundamental lineage

[Self-]exhausts as an old peacock, subsequent to fabled experiences.
Based on concepts of an expanded intellect, if one follows an ambitious, preoccupied fox,
One won't reach the mountain pass to enjoy both [sides of the mountain's] valley-views,
According to the prediction.
If you trust your body to a ship abiding in the middle of Samsara's great ocean,
It makes sense to worry about falling helplessly into the depths
Of potential suffering waiting below.
If your hands get stuck in debts due to clinging to the counterfeit baubles
In the marketplace of dependent origination,
You risk losing sight of the true wealth you seek
And loosening your grip on the method-oars to get yourself there.
Kye ma! The faults of this rebirth as a doubting fox orphaned from its mother
Are sure to be expelled by this little fable
Which casts out hope and fear.
Now and henceforth, with the trebly-named Ratna Mangala's attention to this matter,
There is no way for his wandering, vagrant feet (=pada, or verses), not to be hobbled! 

While plunging into the Lord of the Mandala's [Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche's Collected Writings], volume 2, with a ravenous mind of  devotion and wonder,  I asked myself, "What would Rinpoche say to me personally?" Wishing for that, I wrote whatever I wanted, so let it be positive. Circa 2011.

At such marvels you are supreme, but for the difficult to tame,

You are the greatly wrathful regent of Fierce Powerful Padma,

The life-force of vidyadharas, the ripening method of spontaneously accomplished four activities,

Arisen as the lord of the retinue, according to your previous karma,

We who, by previous karma, are reduced to tatters,

Confess anything against the finality of your Heart-vow,

Though one must pass a spell in lower rebirths of the ocean of samsara,

That Is the Mahamudra of ornament-display,

The spontaneous presence of ground-manifestation

A place of inconceivable qualities

Like the sands of the River Ganges. // 1 //

།ཚོགས་བདག་མཧཱ་དེ་དང་མཚན་ལྡན་མ།
།འོད་ཐིག་སོ་མ་དེ་བིའི་རྒྱན་བཀྲ་བ།
།གང་གིས་དེར་གནས་བདེ་སྐྱིད་སྒོ་་ཀབ་་ཕྱེད་།
།ལས་སྣང་སེལ་བའང་ལྷུན་གྲུབ་ནམ་མཁའི་གཤིས།    ༢

Lakshmi¹ and Archis-Tilak-Somadevi,

Whoever stays there finds the door to happiness open --

And also, purification of karmic phenomena,

In the climate of spontaneous presence. // 2 //

།རིགས་གསུམ་མགོན་དང་ཀུན་གྱི་གཞིར་གྱུར་མ།
།དཔལ་ལྡན་པདྨའི་གདུང་ཚོབ་རྡོ་རྗེ་འཛིན།
།ལས་ཀྱི་མཁའ་འགྲོ་བཟའ་མཁར་རྒྱུ་བའི་དཔྱིད་།
།རིག་འཛིན་བསྡུ་བྱིན་རྩ་གསུམ་གཅིག་འདུས་དངོས།    ༣

With the Lords of the Three Clans, and

She who is the ground of them all,

Glorious Padma's lineal representatives, Vajradharas'

And springtime skies where the planets and stars

Of the Karma Dakinis travel --

There is the combined blessing of Vidyadharas,

The unique presence of the Three Roots.  // 3 //

།བགྲང་མེད་བསྐལ་བར་ཚོགས་གཉིས་ལས་སྐྲུན་གྱི།
།སྟོན་པ་སྲས་བཅས་ཡོན་ཏན་གྱི་བདག་ཉིད་།
།ཅིག་ཤེས་ཐམས་ཅད་མཁྱེན་གྱུར་ཨ་ཏིའི་ལམ།
།རང་མལ་ཕུན་ཚོགས་བྱུང་གནས་རྗེས་སུ་ཐོབ།    ༤

Born from karma of dual accumulation

During countless intermediate kalpas,

That is, the very presence of the Teacher and his descendants,

Those selfsame qualities are the Ati path,

By knowing which one becomes omniscient

That is discovered in one's own resting place

Whence all that is positive occurs. // 4 //

།རང་་་གནས་་་དེ་་་ཉིད་གཅིག་པུའི་འོད་གསལ་ཐིག་ལེ་ནང་།
།ལམ་གཉིས་འབྲས་བུའི་སངས་རྒྱས་སེམས་ཅན་རྣམས།
།སྐུ་གསུམ་རྣམ་དག་དབྱིངས་་སུ་འཛད་ཆོས་ཉིད་།
།ཕྱམ་གཅིག་ཡང་སངས་རྒྱས་ཐོབ་ཤིས་འགྱུར་ཅིག    ༥

In the sphere of luminosity of one's very own [abode],

The two paths' result -- Buddhas and sentient beings --

Have the nature of being resolved in the immaculate Trikaya expanse .

May there be auspice of all-at-once rebuddhahood. // 5 //

།འདོད་མའི་མགོན་པོའི་སྨོན་འབྲེལ་འགྲོ་བའི་ཁམས།
།རྣམ་དག་གནས་ཀྱི་ཡོན་ཏན་རབ་རྒྱས་པའི།
།རྟེན་འབྲེལ་ལེགས་བཟང་ཐོལ་དུ་བྱུང་བ་ཡིས།
།ལྔ་ལྡན་་་གླིང་་སྲས་ཀྱི་རིགས་སུ་འཕེལ་བར་ཤོག    ༦

By full expansion of immaculate indwelling qualities

Of the element of beings, that connected with

The aspirations of the primordial Lords [Kuntuzangpo and Amitabha],

And with the abrupt occurrence of superlative interdependence

May they propagate as [Treasure-Revealing] scions of five-fold lineage. // 6 //

།དེ་ཡི་མཐུ་ལས་རྒྱལ་བའི་བསྟན་པ་སྤྱིའི།
།གཙུག་གི་ནོར་བུ་བསྐལ་བཟང་སྟོང་དང་བཞི།
།བདེ་གཤེགས་ཐུགས་ཀྱི་སྲས་དང་སྲས་མོར་གྱུར།
།བསྐལ་པ་མ་སྟོང་བར་དུ་སྤྲུལ་འགྱུར་ཅིག    ༧

By dint of that may we emanate as

The heart sons and daughters

Of the one thousand and four Sugatas,

Crown Gems of the Victor's universal doctrine,

Until the Aeon is finished!
